The morning of…

You may have noticed a little bit of a delay between instalments of the wedding blogathon, sorry about that! I have three very good reasons:

  • I have been busy collecting photos of the day from our guests
  • I have had food poisoning
  • We just got a new kitten (his name is Sirius and he is the sweetest, most gorgeous baby – I’ve got some photos on instagram if you want to check him out)

See, good reasons, right??

Anyway, thanks for bearing with me. Today I bring to you our preparations on the morning of the wedding.

the morning of

We woke up feeling pleasantly well rested at the reasonable hour of 6.45. Seeing as we’d ticked off all our last minute tasks the day before, we were feeling stress-free and really quite calm! We had a nice relaxed morning together to think about our speeches.

Our amazing hair and makeup artist, Tina, arrived right on time, despite our cabin being in the middle of nowhere. My mum and sister went first, and I couldn’t sit still. I was pacing around and around with excitement that my wedding day was finally here!

We tried to take lots of snaps so that we would remember every moment, which I am very thankful for now, because it is so much fun looking through them all. I swear we weren’t actually as orange as we seem to be in this photo! Damn front camera… ;)

While us girls were being beautified (I eventually was forced to sit still to have my makeup done), my dad and Mario went to set up the ceremony location with the help of the amazing staff at Mavis’s Kitchen (which is where we got married).

They were sending me photos as it all came together, and I was sooooo in love with how it looked. Great job, men! We barely had phone reception at our cabin, but the stars absolutely aligned on our wedding day and I got to see all the photos. :)

Speaking of the stars aligning, the weather on the day could not have been more perfect. It was cloudy in the morning, but still a really pleasant temperature, and the sun came out just as our guests arrived at the ceremony. Considering that it had previously been forecast to rain, we really felt like someone or something was watching over us.

After the photographers arrived, Mario and his best man went off to get ready at the venue. Mario looked so handsome, even more than usual. :)

This is a photo that one of our very good friends snapped just before the ceremony, and it is one of my favourites from the whole day.

Once Mario and Dwayne left to get ready, I fiiiiinally got to put my dress on (it was an elegant dress, but putting it on was not an elegant affair! There was lots of pushing and grunting going on!). It was the part I had most been looking forward to all morning (not including the actual wedding itself!).

A friend of my mum’s, Carla, made my wedding jewellery, which was so special. The jewelled hair clip was my mum’s idea, and I am so glad she suggested it.

My sister sneakily took this photo of me right before we left for the ceremony. I really love that it shows the back of my dress, and the hair clip. Everyone had left for the wedding except for my mum, dad and sister, and I was feeling so peaceful. It’s a great feeling, finally being able to let go of all of the planning, and simply being able to look forward to seeing my future husband at the end of the aisle.

I think getting ready is special time because it is just you and your family and it sounds like it was such a beautiful time to be blissful before all the formalities begun. You look very happy as you should be in these photos. I’m so happy everything on the day was perfect! The perfect morning for the perfect bride :D
