Origami Bridal Bouquet

Origami Bridal Bouquet

I’ve posted about these flowers and this beautiful wedding before, BUT…  It’s now less than five months until my wedding, and I have Wedding Fever, so I’m going to tell you all about them again. :)

Plus, the last time I wrote about these flowers was just after the wedding of my dear friends Michael and Jacinta, and they didn’t yet have their professional photographs back. Now I’ve included some for you to admire (thanks Jacinta!).

When Jacinta mentioned the idea of having an origami bouquet, I was SO EXCITED. I have loved origami all my life, and the idea of someone trusting me enough to make their wedding flowers was HUGE.

I had so much fun making them (the flowers are ‘new swirl kawasaki roses’ by the way) and learning new techniques (like wet folding, which I had never tried before), and I got through almost the entire series of Doc Martin by the time I was done (I didn’t really enjoy the show though, I have to say. He is so grumpy). It was awesome to see the bouquets come together flower by flower.

The fun I had making these flowers was nothing compared to the fun that I had on Michael and Jacinta’s wedding day though. It was such a fun wedding! I don’t think I’ve danced so much since high school – the music was great, the company was great, it was an all around great great day.

Didn’t Jacinta make a beautiful bride? The venue was lovely too – the Treacy Centre in Parkville.

A lot of people have asked me whether I am going to make a similar bouquet for my own wedding. The answer, I can reveal, is yes… sort of! But not really… (I like to be precise about these things, you know?)

I have something in the pipeline that I have been working hard on, but you will have to wait a little while longer to see it… around 5 months or so :). I’m pretty excited though. Mario has been helping me out, which just goes to show how lucky I am to be marrying him (in FIVE MONTHS, OH MY GOD)!!!
Origami bouquetWould you take on the challenge of making your own bridal bouquet? I have to admit, there are moments when I wonder why I can’t just be a normal person who, you know, buys things, but what can you do? I think it will be worth it. :)

Once again, THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!! I think you told me in total there was 120ish flowers across the 4 bouquets. I love my bouquet and smile every time I see it. That was part of the point, that 3 and a bit years on it still looks just as beautiful as the day i held it. I can never thank you enough. I think you are amazing for being able to make my bouquets and can’t wait to see the amazing bouquet that you make for yourself. It will be such a great keep sake from your own wedding, something to cherish always! :D

I would totally take it on. The only problem? I’d probably get started on it the night before the wedding. I work better under pressure, you see……. Uh-huh, OK. Thanks for sharing.
