Do you notice anything new around here? I’ve wanted to change the theme of my blog for aggggesssss, and I spent many hours trying different ones out until I found this one. I love the clean, minimal look of it, and the fact that there is so much more room! I’m super happy with it.
Anyway, in the theme of being clean and minimal, I have decided to tackle one of my new year’s resolutions – decluttering our house.
When we moved in two years ago, we pretty much dumped all our possessions in our house without sorting them at all. We shoved things in closets, drawers, under beds, you name it. For two people we sure managed to take up a lot of space.
But no more! I am ready to go crazy on clutter, and to make sure I stay motivated, I am doing a 20 day challenge. And you know what? I would LOVE it if you would join in! Please please please help me stay on track by posting your before and after decluttering photos on Instagram with the hashtag #icandeclutter or by emailing them to me at email@example.com. I would love to feature your decluttering victories on my blog, and include a link to your own blog, if you have one.
The way the challenge will work is this. For the first 15 days, I will focus on one small area each day that needs to be decluttered – drawers, cupboards, my car, etc. Over these 15 days, I will gather a collection of all the items that I need to donate or dispose of.
On days 16-18 (which happen to conveniently be a weekend) I will sort, wash, clean and repair the items that I want to donate – stay tuned, because I have some great suggestions of where to send various items.
Days 19-20 are reserved for delivering the donations and/or disposing of things that are not suitable to be donated. This is the best part, because it gets stuff out of the house, and puts it in the path of people who might really need it, which is awesome.
So anyway, have a think about whether there are areas of your home or work that could use a good declutter, and send me your photos because, as I mentioned, I would really love to see them, and I need all the help I can get! Even if you join in for a day or two, rather than the whole challenge, you will feel the weight of all that clutter lifting off you, AND you’ll be finding awesome new homes for your old items, which is very good karma.
