Marvellous Mulled Wine

Happy 7th day of Christmas! Is this your last day of work before the holidays? I’ve been madly scrambling today, trying to get everything done so I don’t need to go in to work on Monday! My brain feels like mush!

Before we go on to today’s recipe, make sure you check out some of the other days of Christmas. We don’t have many left now!!!

Today’s recipe is one that I really wish I had in my hand right now! I figure it’s pretty perfect for the last Friday night before Christmas.

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

Marvellous Mulled Wine

Wine 3

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup red wine
  • 2 slices of fresh orange
  • 2 slices of fresh lemon
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • 125 g caster sugar

Method:

Note: the quantities differ depending on how much you want to make (obviously). This recipe makes two glasses of mulled wine. You can double or triple the recipe if you want to make enough to share or serve at dinner.

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan.
  2. Warm gently for 15 minutes – do not allow wine to boil or simmer.
  3. Strain out the cloves and other bits and pieces (unless you like drinking cloves, that is) and serve warm in a glass, wine glass or tea cup! Enjoy!

I just love the steam rising out of the pan in this photo… it looks so warming and magical!
